This is a great tasting, substantial brunch dish that you can make the night before and refrigerate. It is the perfect breakfast casserole recipe!
16 slices bread
Butter
1 pound Canadian bacon or ham, diced
4-1/2 ounce jar mushrooms, drained
4 cups grated Swiss cheese
2 cups milk
4 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Cut crusts off bread, and butter both sides. Places 8 slices in the bottom of a 9 inches x 13 inches baking dish.
Sprinkle with half of the Canadian bacon, mushrooms, and cheese. Use remaining bread, bacon, mushrooms, and cheese. Repeat.
In a bowl, combine milk, eggs, and Worcestershire sauce. Pour evenly over ingredients in baking dish.
Refrigerate 24 hours.
Bake cold breakfast casserole uncovered at 325 degrees for 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes or until cheese begins to brown.
Serves 12 to 16. Makes wonderful leftovers!
You can also cut this recipe in half and put it in an 8 inches x 8 inches baking dish. Serves 6 to 8.
